Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
CRY stores mood check-ins, sessions, journals, prayers, preferences, fasting intentions, temptation-resistance records, and optional photos locally on your device. The current app does not require an account or upload this content to a CRY server.
How do I erase my data?
Open Profile, choose Erase All Local Data, and confirm. You can also delete CRY from your device. Deleted local content cannot be recovered by CRY.
Why does CRY request camera access?
Only the optional temptation-resistance picture journal uses the camera. CRY requests access after you choose Take a Private Photo. You can record an entry without adding a photo.
Why does CRY request notification access?
Notifications are optional and are used for the local daily check-in reminder you configure. You can turn the reminder off in Profile or change access in iOS Settings.
Does CRY record audio?
No. Guided cry sessions use timers and on-screen prompts. The app does not request microphone access or record your session.
Is CRY medical or crisis support?
No. CRY supports personal spiritual practice and reflection. It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, medical advice, or emergency support. If you may be in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service in your location.
